Comments | SGI Cosmo Player is a VRML 2.0 browser for
use as a plug-in with Netscape Navigator. Using Cosmo Player, you can browse
the Web and view VRML files within the Netscape document window, or embedded
in a document page.
SGI Cosmo Player supports SGI's VRMLScript scripting language for Script nodes, and does not support either Java, or JavaScript. However, SGI's VRMLScript is very similar to JavaScript. You can convert the JavaScript examples from The VRML 2.0 Sourcebook to VRMLScript by simply changing the javascript tag to vrmlscript in the Script node URL. SGI provides a variety of example worlds at their Web site at http://vrml.sgi.com/worlds. |

Notes |
The version of Cosmo Player for
the PC included on this CD-ROM is a Beta release of the product.
This Beta release supports most VRML 2.0 features, but may still have the
inevitable bugs common to a pre-release product.
To insure that Beta software does not continue to be used past the release of the final product, SGI has built a January 15, 1997 expiration date into this product. On that date, the product will cease to function. A new version of the product can be downloaded from SGI's Web site. The version of Cosmo Player for the SGI included on this CD-ROM is a first-release and has no expiration date. This release may still have the inevitable bugs common to a first-release product. This release supports most, but not yet all, VRML 2.0 features. Please see the release notes contained within the installed application's folders, and SGI's Web site for further information. |
